[singsong]♫ I just got a Macbook ♪[/singsong]

Eeeeh! It's an itty-bitty dainty lil' Macbook Air--can't wait to play with it! Naturally tonight is the night I HAVE to do laundry--no play until later. I was verrrrry tempted to get an iPad but ultimately went with the Air.

Anya cracks me up--she really "gets" Tibby's voice, his whiney, "poor pathetic me" inner monologue. (As Tesse would put it, "I've never been fed. Ever.") The other night she started singing songs from Hair in his voice--"Easy to Be Hard," and the opening of "The Flesh Failures" ("We starve...") are especially appropriate.

Still plowing through Medieval Warfare: A History--I'm trying to get way ahead on the readings for the second half of the semester. Just finished a chapter on naval warfare.

Ryan and I did what Duncan and I did last year (Duncan had rehearsal last night) and talked to students from my alma mater--we met them at the Gershwin Hotel last night. Had a BALL, the students were thrilled to talk to us, even though most of them were not theater students! (The trip is for arts students in general.) They asked us all sorts of questions, so thoughtful too! They were very excited to hear my production company is named Holla Holla Productions--that's a Sweet Briar cheer! ("Here's to ya, Sweet Briar, Holla Holla Holla, nothin' that you cannot do..."). I didn't get a chance to talk to Christian about the Thyme project afterward (she had to run out) but from what little she said about it, it seems she's still working on it.

Tim's party overlooking the parade route is tomorrow! Can't wait!

Is Firefox always this terrible? I switched to them because it seems Facebook doesn't like IE 8 (or vice versa)--Firefox takes forever to load *every* site. It's maddening. Is there a better browser than either one of them?

I burned my very first CD last night! Duncan and I had tried to do it at rehearsal--we needed to make the sound cue CD for "A Hillside in Hell"--but couldn't figure it out, so I brought my laptop back home. It was actually pretty easy to figure out, we just couldn't do it while people were waiting (as Doug and Matt were, to rehearse).

So, today I walked over to where the Brass Tacks AD works, Park Avenue South and 18th St., to drop off the CD. I realized halfway there that I didn't have my wallet with me and was very stressed out--I didn't know where it was and I needed ID to get into 30 Rock, although I could page someone to come down to get me. I dropped off the CD and decided I had enough time, if I jogged, to check in my apartment for the wallet. So I half-jogged, half-walked back--and thankfully my wallet was in my gym bag. RELIEF. Then I literally had to turn right around and get to work. So for two hours straight was was walking or jogging. I am TIRED.

But it's a gorgeous day outside!

I broke down and opened it up. It's very pretty. It lights up bluely like a spaceship when it whirrs and clicks and gurgles.

However, it seems there are only a couple of desktop theme options. Hmm. I expected more. It said something about being able to get them online but I want them NOW.

It's here!

My new laptop is here! Excitement! It's all I can do not to rip it open but I should wait until I get home.

My laptop has shipped! It's scheduled to arrive here by Monday morning, which is way before the April 15 ship date my original order form said. Yay!

I ordered my new laptop today. It's basically as it was in the link I posted yesterday, although I took your advice, Mike (which was seconded by other techies), and upped the memory while slowing down the processor.

It's scheduled to ship in a little less than two weeks. Yay!

And I found a way to access my Yahoo! account while at work, although I have to go way out of my way (down to the library on 48--I'm on 61 today) to do it. I can't linger over my email, but I can at least check it for important stuff.

I configured a system on the HP website. How does this look?

My monitor was dead: to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that...My monitor was as dead as a door-nail.

I turned on my monitor yesterday when I got in from work. It flickered on and off and then started smoking. For those of you not in the know yet, Tatiana knocked water onto my computer, and now I have to get a new one. I'm looking at laptops--I was considering a Mac but I really want to spend under $1000, so I may have to go with a Compaq or and HP. Computer geeks in the house, please feel free to offer advice.
