What's with these athletes biting their medals? I think this is the second or third photo I've seen from these olympics of someone biting their medal.

Probably some kind of childlike visceral need to experience the medal. I could see doing that.

I was watching the diving last night and he was such a pleasure to watch. Also, I feel horribly guilty saying this, but I actually did not know that he was gay, but he set off my gaydar. It was just the way that he would skip and saunter off after each dive. I know, that sounds horrible.

I actually didn't watch it (NBC's site is weird, and I've been able to watch very little), I just came across the story. Apparently he was the first diver (or maybe the first athlete period) who competed while openly gay.

Yes, from what I've read, he's the first olympic athlete to compete while openly gay.
