So, last night I checked my email, per Aaron's message about the DeBaun Shakespeare auditions. The setup is interesting. He's casting for 8 (?) actors, teenagers to adults, to be in all three plays, and perform them not only at DeBaun but at various local schools for a stipend. So you have to commit to all three plays--one in October, one in January, one in April. As much as I want to do Juliet and Kate, I don't know if I can commit to that, although I will probably audition.

Hmm.

I heard on New York 1 this morning that this month is on its way to being among the ten rainiest Julys ever. Interesting. It doesn't feel as though it's rained that much--rain usually really affects my mood (I was miserable June 2003). It seems as thought it's been a nice July. I haven't even minded the rain this week that much, although I was not happy last Friday.

Mike's comment made me think of a funny story that happened a few weeks ago. Katie at work and I were talking about the weather--she said it was expected to be unpleasant, "humid." I said I didn't mind humidity and she said "Yes, I know, you...swamp monster." You had to see her delivery to appreciate how charming this remark was--Katie is very sweet and friendly, also a classical singer (albeit a mezzo) and very intelligent. She wouldn't say boo to a mouse. So when she called me a swamp monster, she had this sweet smile on her face and kind of giggled. It was adorable. So that's my new sobriquet. *sloosh...sloosh...sloosh...* (Imagine sucking sounds here.)
