Flowers (Saturday)
Jan. 5th, 2004 06:55 pmOn Saturday night, Mike and Heidi came to see my show. Also in the audience was Katie Henderson, from the West End. During my final monologue, when I address the audience directly, I pointed to her on "I'll begin with the women." I recognized her but couldn't place her--she'd dyed her hair a pale blonde and I thought for a split second it was Kelly Nichols from As You Like It. She came up to me afterward and then I knew who she was. Katie Henderson! My little friend from the West End! We shared a dressing room and everything, and I taught her how to bite her finger and say "Oh, the IRONY of it!"
Mike and Heidi brought me FLOWERS. A beautiful arrangement of six differently-colored roses. FLOWERS. I love flowers. The perfect gift for me, ever, is flowers, especially roses--they're so impractical, they serve no other purpose other than to give beauty. *Sigh.* I got flowers.
Afterward we went to an Italian place at the behest of Tracy's friend. The place was quite crowded, plus we were crammed into a tiny table and I just felt very claustrophobic and therefore grouchy. My mood wasn't improved upon viewing the very limited menu selection--pretty much just pizza and panini. Ergh. Why did this guy push this place so much? Annoying. And the pizza was mediocre--not enough cheese at all. However after awhile my mood improved; people around us left and it wasn't so crowded and we had some nice conversation.
After we left there, Mike, Heidi and I went to a hangout nearby where we ordered beers, repaired to the back room, and threw darts. Hee. Darts. Darts are fun. We drank a LOT and I stayed out later than I have in quite some time. I left the Village at 4:00--I was a zombie the next day.
