What technicalities???? *Grumble, grumble, grumble* This is why I clarified the bet--which was whether or not Matilda came after William the Conqueror or before. (IOW, not whether or not Matilda was actually acclaimed as Queen Regnant--I wasn't 100% sure about that, although I remembered her father Henry I as having named her his heir.)
