Last night, after getting back from the game, I found an email from Peter, asking about the show and what time it gets out. Something like "I really want to see tomorrow's show but I need to know..." I replied, "You'll be out by 7:00." I checked this morning and he'd sent another one saying he'd gotten a commercial gig with some NBA guy (Tim ?--for San Antonio? Do they have an NBA team?) and he couldn't come see the show, unfortunately. I'll reply tonight and push for the Shakespeare showcase in January.

Really! Wow, I never would've guessed. You don't hear that much about it.

It's a rather boring city, I understand, and quite eclipsed by Houston and Dallas.

Interestingly, I found the 2000 Census data and discovered that San Antonio has moved up to #9 with roughly 1.1 million people. It's bigger than Detroit now.

Of course, the picture changes quite a bit if you look at metropolitan areas, which is really what determines the viability of a sports franchise. But it's still 29th at 1.6 million, well ahead of New Orleans (34th), Salt Lake City (35th), and Memphis (43rd), all of which have teams.

And if you like useless trivia, the largest metro area without a basketball team is San Diego (17th, 2.8 million). The top 16 all have one.
