I've always seen it red, and it was red in episode 4. In fact I have a novel that came out in 1979, Han Solo at Star's End by Brian Daley, where I first heard the phrase ("you think they give the Corellian bloodstripe for perfect attendance?"). I don't know who started that yellow thing but I've never seen it except on homemade costumes.
I just (finally) saw the Cartoon Network "Clone Wars" stuff. Now I'm curious to see how much of that they rehash in the upcoming movie. It looks like a lot of it. I don't know if Genndy Whathisname is pissed about that or not, though.
