Child-batterer, -torturer and -molester Cesar Rodriguez gets off with only manslaughter.

I saw the headlines for this on my way to the show this morning--I was shocked. I can't believe it. I don't understand what more the jury needed. He admitted killing her, he admitted torturing her, he admitted banging her head against the bathroom wall while dousing her with cold water. And leaving her there to die on the bathroom floor, just like Lisa Steinberg. He admitted tying her up; he admitted forcing her to use the cat litter box. He admitted starving her.

And he blamed her for all of it--he said she was a "troublemaker." A "problem child."

Piece of filth defense attorney Jeffrey T. Schwartz (who also wanted to represent Darryl Littlejohn, torturer and murderer of Imette St. Guillen--yeah, this attorney really knows how to seek them out?--said that his client as only guilty of being "a strict disciplinarian."

Mother of God. You can rot in hell right there with your client.

I am very disappointed in our judicial system right now. I don't understand this at all. Very, very upsetting. Apparently

A lawyer on the jury persuaded the other jurors that Rodriguez's brutality wasn't depraved. The lawyer, Renee Schnall who works as a human resources director, hoped that she did not tip the opinion of the jury in favor of the defendant, saying "everyone has to live with their decision." She did indicate that Rodriguez was "a clear abuser and a bastard", however, she also indicated that the Prosecution had failed to prove to her that Rodriguez didn't care about Brown's fate. Another juror, expressing doubt, said "Only God knows who delivered the fatal blow", and further said, "Nixzaliz Santiago is more guilty than Cesar (Rodriguez) is." It was learned that Schnall "began changing the minds of her fellow panelists."

Oh my God. Mother of God. If what that child suffered wasn't depraved, I don't know what is. Just unbelievable. Oh my God. This is terrible. This is right up there with Michael Jackson getting off.

Jailhouse justice. God forgive for saying that, but I hope he will meet his fate in prison--and I hope that chickenshit jury, who ignored the mute evidence of that child's battered body, get a taste of that as well.

Rest in peace, little one. At least you're safe from them--now, no one can hurt you.

The problem is they can't prove that he abused her with the intent to murder her.
This is the part that amazes me.
Who the hell does the things that this man did to a child and not think this could kill her?

Vigilante justice may not be the preferred mode, but sometimes it's all we can hope for.

Exactly. How could anybody think this wouldn't eventually kill a starved child?

Also, in his initial police interrogation, he said that after he'd left her on the bathroom floor, the mother was worried and wanted to call 911 but he said no, she was just scamming them again. JESUS.
