Starbucks can get on my good side if they supply free coffee on Election Day. I got to my polling place so damn early this morning I think I voted for Eartha Kitt.
Can't. Everytime I vote, the other side wins. I am cursed. :( (Besides, I'm not registered anymore. I don't want to get called up for jury doody...................................This just keeps going on and on and on, huh? I've forgotten the whole point now...What was it?....... Oh Yeah! Vote?)
Oh son. You are just in a world of hurt now. You don't VOTE? Because you don't want to get called up for jury duty?? *head asplodes*
Prepare for a lecture the next time I see you. To make it go down easier, I will deliver it in black leather, using a whip for emphasis. But you must realize the error of your ways. Voting is the backbone of our democracy--it's the only way our leaders have accountability. People all over the world DIE for this right.

.........................................in black leather, using a whip for emphasis??????????? How do I sign up for THAT lecture series, Mama f*ck..I mean DUCK.....(jk) ;-P
Voting records are not the only lists used in NY State for jury duty. Names are also taken from lists of state and local taxpayers, licensed drivers, registered vehicle owners, applicants for or recipients of public assistance benefits and registered vehicle owners, applicants for or recipients of public assistance benefits and recipients of state unemployment compensation.
Wow I did not know that--that's a great little factoid to whip out.
Jury duty is awesome, I don't know why people avoid it. Yeah, you lose money and they should definitely increase the compensation but the experience is fascinating.
Well, the first reason is the most obvious. You lose money. Not everyone can afford to miss even a day's work. And even if you're on salary you wind up having to make up for the work load you missed.
Now, now. Even *cough* Republicans should exercise their right to vote. EVERYONE should. Bush said something to that effect today--he made an admirably unpartisan appeal for everyone to vote. I cannot accept government by default--I'd rather have a government that reflects the views of the people, even if I don't like it.
The only way to build a better society is to contribute to it!
I thought about seeing if you and Holly wanted to hang out and watch the results tonight, but then it turns out I have a couple of auditions tomorrow so I decided against it.
That's ok. I would have been up for watching the returns (hey, I watched the Minnesota Vikings get their asses whipped two weekends in a row -- I was prepared!) but Holly isn't quite the political junkie that I am, I think, and it's a school night anyway.
We could always get together sometime in the next three months to watch the Senate recounts ;-)
Well, recounts are not quite as exciting as landslides...;-)
For some reason I thought the Vikings won last weekend? I've been watching games from time to time lately--I've had this unexplained interest in football lately. I want to play it, mostly, but I enjoy watching semetimes as well. I think it started when the Saints started winning this season. It tied a lot of interests of mine together.

VOTE for assertive, dominant women! Step in TIme!

Kidding. KIDDING!
Personally, I prefer a harem-girl outfit myself.

Not that it matters in New Jersey.
