ceebeegee: (Tatiana the Sausage Kitty)

I am exhausted this morning, because I was jerked out of a dead sleep by the sound of a very angry Tatiana growling at her little brother. This has happened several times over the past couple of days (i.e., catfights in the middle of the night). I spoke sharply to them, Tibby ran off, then I coaxed Tatia over to me and stroked her and gave her lots of love until she was purring and happy. The incident ruined my sleep for the rest of the night; I kept waking up and stroking Tatia again, to make her purr so she wouldn't freak out if Tibby was near. My heart was racing, and still is, as though I'd taken too much NoDoz.

I've started Tatia on some behavioral medication to calm her down. It's supposed to have a similar effect as Paxil or Zoloft, but the vet said it takes a few weeks to really enter her system. I started it last Monday so I hope she'll start to be nicer soon. Just giving her the medication is a trial--I am not very good at giving pills to cats, especially cats who are already angry about their living situation.

I'm so tired. I just feel weird and woozy.

We tried Hammy on psychotropic drugs at one point. He's pretty good about taking pills but he refused to take that one. We eventually gave up. We had to give Matty pills often and she wouldn't swallow them. We were finally successful with a variation on the pill-in-the-applesauce trick. It never really worked on me, be here's the cat version.

Grind the pill up in a mortar and pestle. Once you've ground it up, mix it with a little milk. Use an eye dropper to suck it up and stick it down the kitty's throat. Matty didn't like the whole process but was somewhat conflicted about the milk. Good luck!

hope the meds work out... i can't imagine how stressful it must be, when you just want them to get along.

griffin woke me up at 5 am crying over this stuffed toy that looks like a kitten. he does this maybe once a week, only when we're sleeping, and cries so mournfully (and LOUDLY) but he seems to love the toy, so i don't want to take them away from him.

hey, i saw your post on one of the theater groups about the Veruca Salt song... what format do you have the sheet music in? i could only find a Very Easy Piano version with basically single-note accompaniment!

What format? I'm not sure what you mean, but my accompaniment is standard (that is, more than 1-note!). I can fax it to you if you'd like.
