So that Macbeth email and post I did yesterday? For the show that's going up in two weeks? Ignore them.

Julie cancelled the show.

YOu fucking got me. I woke up this morning to two messages from Michelle (Witch #3, a good friend of mine) telling me to call her, and another from the director, saying the same. Catherine (dir.) said that Julie had called the SM (didn't even speak to Catherine) and broke the news. No reason. Just---cancelled. Julie sent out a weak email a little while ago saying it's cancelled, sorry, hope to work with you again. AS IF.

MOTHERFUCKER.

Dude, I'm sorry. And the Scottish play is one of the few Shakes I actually like, so I was coming.

It's my favorite S-speare tragedy and it was going to be an awesome show. Our Macbeth is kickass, very talented. MotherFUCKER.

You know?!
I've met Julie. In the past, I had entertained the idea of working with her group.

That idea just went out the window.

I can never work with her again. Ever. I can't take the chance this will happen again.

I've done BENEFITS for her. I've stepped in to cover roles for her. The first Shakespeare's Women, when she went to the emergency room, I covered her monologues and scenes. I helped her when Psycho Susan flipped out (http://ceebeegee.livejournal.com/2003/12/21/) and tried to force us to cancel the second production of Shakespeare's Women--Julie was going to cancel the production completely and I said "Why? Fuck her. We can cover her shit." I have defended her and covered for her in som many ways, and she pulls this.

The council has decreed...

Then she is dead to us.
We no longer acknowledge her.

Be my guest. In fact I can choreograph it, since I did that for her fucking play. Which will now NOT be going up.

That is so crazy! Maybe there is a good reason. I mean, there is no such thing as a good reason for throwing everyone else into that crap but my guess is this: Julie has a major health emergency and she cannot do the show so she decided that no one else can do the show. It is her company so without her it is cancelled. Crazy!

Catherine said she thought Julie got overwhelmed. One time for another show, Julie was talking about the need to sell tickets and she started rambling and getting all emotional and saying if she had to paper the house, she'd have to stop producing and would move back to Chicago, and the whole thing was VERY weird and uncomfortable. I wrote her a long email that night about the need to stay in control when you're in a leadership position--how you can't lose your shit and flake out and get all upset in front of us, that it undermines morale. She responded very well and didn't get mad, but she hasn't learned a THING. She still gets overwhelmed. That will HAPPEN when you're producing and cast yourself in a role you an't do (she was Lady Macbeth).

Ugh! I'm sorry to hear that the performance has been cancelled.
I was actually looking for your post because Natey's in NYC right now and I was checking to see what the dates for your play were and I saw this post.
It's too bad.

Well, I'm in another show as well--a Shakespearean cabaret, and I sing a lot in it. I have one awesome torch song, a beautiful rendition of "Come Away, Death." I'll be posting the info for that soon.

I'm sorry sweetie. It really sucks that you put that much time and work into something and then someone just throws it all away like that.

Hopefully your other show will be so great that you won't even think about this show.

I will happily contribute to the kicking of her ass. What the hell was she thinking? The one time this happened to me... well I won't be working with that crazed monkey weasel again either. No f***ing explanation just an e-mail??? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. On the upside, does this mean you can do both nights of the Cabaret?

Date: 2006-04-27 04:33 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ceebeegee.livejournal.com
Well, I'd committed to the two nights anyway (the cabaret starts at 10:30 so if Macbeth had run that night, I would've run from that to the cabaret show). The upside is that now I don't have any conflicts with the rehearsal schedule.

Thank you for the ass-kicking offer.
