On Larry King right now is this "religious leader" "conservative" who's criticizing Brokeback Mountain (of course, without having seen it), talkingtalkingtalking with wordwordswords asserting that yes, Jesus Christ was celibate (and therefore did not have heterosexual sex, as far as we know) but we KNOW He talked up straight sex within marriage and of course we KNOW He hated gaydom blahblahblah wordwordswords. Love. Christ preached love. That is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. He talked about Love.

If I were on that show, I would just keep interrupting the guy and saying "Love. Love. Love thy neighbor."

Love Larry! He said "When we come back, I'm going to ask Rev. (whatever) when he chose to be heterosexual."

And then there's the hateful woman that oh-so-artfully blamed Matthew Shepherd for his own death, by coyly wondering aloud whether he was coming on to men and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. JESUS. I bet if a woman is raped while wearing a short skirt, she's the first one to pick up a stone.

HATE. I can't be that kind of person--as hateful as I find these people, I can't hate them. But, oh, God, it is so hard. I hate this woman. "Janet Parshall, Radio Host, 'Janet Parshall's America.'"

Man, Larry is really sticking it to these assholes. "You aren't making a judgement, are you?" Larry's Jewish, so I imagine he's had his fill of finger-pointing jerks like this. And when he cuts to the break, he's either showing clips of Brokeback Mountain or pictures of loving, just-married gay couples.

Fuck these narrow-minded shits. I'm-a seeing Brokeback Mountain just to piss 'em off. 5 times.

Don't worry, I'll hate them for you.

That's right, our brethren of Israel don't have to turn the other cheek ;) Yay for ecumenicism!

Oh, it just makes me so mad. Watching those assholes, who claim to represent Christianity, smirking as they spew their bile. I had to turn it off.

If God is so against homosexuality, why did he direct Moses to touch his father's genitals?

No where in the Bible does it say that homosexuality is bad. Go look it up.

I still to this day wonder what has happened to this 'Love thy brother' thing because I don't see Christians loving anyone but themselves. I know not all Christians are like this, but enough of them are like this and they are loud about it that it is scarey.

I guess I'm too busy to worry about other people and other people's choices. If God didn't want homosexuals, he wouldn't have made them homosexual. I want to be me, I want you to be you, her to be her, him to be him, and everyone to just leave each other alone.

Seriously, these people need to find something better to do with their time than to make the world a worse place by encouraging things like what happened to Matthew Shepard. No human should have to endure what happened to him for just being what they are.

Oh hey! I didn't realize you added me back. Love your clothes, and I've been meaning to email you about some custom orders.

Well, according to *some,* you can interpret some portions of the Old Testament to think that "man lying with man is a sin" but I am an Episcopalian, and we're not that concerned with the Bible in any case (seriously--we're all about the Mass and the Book of Common Prayer). Furthermore, every Xtian will tell you that the Gospels and the New Testament take precedence over the Old. And Christ preached Love. Love above all, Love is paramount, Love God, Love thy neighbor. Love. Love.

I will leave on that note, because thinking about those people on Larry King is just going to make me forget about--Love.

I LOVE IT...THESE CONSERVATIVE ARE THE FIRST TO QUOTE (OR MISQUOTE) THE BIBLE TO "PROVE" THEIR POINT...

YET THE BIBLE SAYS IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT GOD IS LOVE, THAT ALL LOVE COMES FROM GOD, THAT LOVE IS A GIFT, AND THAT IS IS A SIN TO TURN YOUR BACK ON GIFTS FROM GOD.

UMMMM...HOW DO THEY RECONCILE THIS WITH HOMOSEXUAL LOVE IS EVIL AND A SIN?

I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT. AND I REALLY DON'T WANT TO IF IT MEANS BEING THAT CLOSED-MINDED.

It is really frustrating. It just seems as though they'd rather hold on to hate and fear and condemnation than open themselves up to love and reaching out to people. I talked in an entry of Tesse's last week about how that mindset wants surety and strong statements--they seem afraid of freedom, of wonderment and uncertainty.

AND THAT IS IS A SIN TO TURN YOUR BACK ON GIFTS FROM GOD.

this is a really good point.

i'd just like to say that for years i thought "religious right" was "religious reich."

There's a lot of homosexuality in the bible, and even more in the gnostic gospels. But that's another story.

Seeing Brokeback Mountain five times = awesome, but you will be an utter emotional wreck at the end. Then again, I suppose it's not any worse than seeing Munich three times, which I, embarrassed, must admit to.

I know a lot about the Munich massacre, and watching it even in flashback would be very difficult for me. I may have a hard time with that.

Well, I think the fact that Brokeback Mountain won the Golden Globe for best picture and best director, upsets many heteros of the Republican, sorry close-minded persuasion. It's like "Oh my God, the best movie of the year is a movie about fags. No that can't be." Whatever!

But, I want to say thank you, because I think more homos need to thank our straight brethren who help stick up for us. Love ya.

I think we're going to see it this weekend.

Saw it last week. Very good film. Will happily see it again with you, if you'd like!

Am possibly seeing Munich tonight, if you'd like to come...
