Still sick

Finally called the doctor this morning and she called in a prescrip without my having to leave my nice warm bed to go see her. Yay for sympathetic doctors!
I've been going to rehearsal in the middle of this crap with my throat (though only marking vocally since I literally cannot hit a note above F#5). We have also been doing some extra singing gigs--there are only 4 carolers--Ashley, Alicia, Tara-Jo and I--and of us, Ashley and I have done all the gigs, including one last night after rehearsal. Stevens does a "Midnight Breakfast" every semester during finals, sponsored by the bookstore, and Ashley, Alicia and I went over to sing a few carols for this. I croaked out some lower harmonies, and here was a student group, a hip-hop barbershop quartet kind of sound. They were so cute--they wanted us to sing along with them, and then one of their guys came over and busted out with some tenor harmonies while looking on my music. After we sang the bookstore owners gave us a lil' gift bag with a big latte mug, some chocolates, and a Xmas tree ornament, all adorned with the Stevens name and logo. How nice is that!! Free swag! We didn't expect that at all. We were promised breakfast, however, so we went upstairs and indulged. They had an amazing spread--scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, bacon, sausage patties, blueberry muffins, hash brown, OMELETTES with all sorts of add-ins, strawberry, vanilla and chocolate milkshakes. It was all so yummy! They also had a karaoke machine, a raffle, tarot card readings--apparently Stevens goes all out with this Midnight Breakfast. I wish we'd had something like that during finals at Sweet Briar--our big thing was the primal scream in the quad. Which was fun but this would've been better.
I left right before 11:00 to catch the bus--I knew there was one leaving the PATH station at 11:00. It didn't come until 11:20 (so...late--it should have been there by 11:15 at the latest, especially with no traffic). And then the FUCKING ASSHOLE looked right at me and passed me by. Did not stop. I was shocked, and then I realized I was at Washington & 8th, not Washington & 7th-there is a bench but no signs at either stop, so I got confused. But you'd think the driver would've stopped anyway--it was 20 degrees out last night. I mean, that's no time to stand on ceremony--20 fucking degrees, he was late and there was no traffic. It really upsetting--I just started crying as I trudged toward the PATH station. 20 degrees, the guy looked right at me and passed me by. What an asshole. You'd think when it's that cold outside, these arbitrary drivers would try to help people and make sure they don't freeze. I was able to catch another bus--one that was on time--about 10 minutes later, which made me feel a little better.
So, some people nice--Stevens people who fed us and gave us nice mugs. And some people, not so nice.

Date: 2005-12-15 07:06 pm (UTC)I just wrote a complaint to NJ Transit so I feel better about it. But damn, it's been some cold lately, huh?

Date: 2005-12-16 04:41 pm (UTC)But I think the driver was ready to stop. That was why he made eye-contact with you, to see if you would flag him or something. When you didn't, he went on by - they can't stop for everyone they see, and even on Washington at 11pm on a bitterly cold night there are lots of people, and I suspect he thought you were waiting to cross the street.
