Rant about the strike

The Transit Workers Union sucks, hard. Not only do I loathe the MTA and how it's run, but I am very pro-union--my grandparents, mother and brother are all members of performers' unions, and (I think) my dad is in the pilots' union. So they must really suck to have lost my natural sympathies so thoroughly--the Transit workers are a disgrace to the name. Their whole posturing crap, playing to the media strategy is pissing me off--they usually give terrible service, the workers at the booths are rude as hell and the trains take forever to arrive. And yesterday they staged a demonstration completely blocking traffic to the Queensboro Bridge! Way to build up support with the public! And Roger Toussaint can have a nice warm cup of Shut the Fuck Up as well. I get unreasonably pissed off at someone who moves here from another country and then starts pushing for illegal strikes, and insulting the mayor by telling him to shut up in the press (as he did last time), and tearing up legal papers. What a lame-ass poseur. I frankly think all their asses should be fired for voting for an illegal strike. Guys, you signed a contract prohibiting an illegal strike--there's a reason it's illegal, that's because it's an essential service. If you didn't want to abide by that prohibition, find another job where you get overpaid for being as rude as possible to the public. I hear the DC government is hiring. This happened three years ago--they know a strike is illegal and they threaten the public with it anyway. The fact that they always threaten us with this kind of negates the whole "our conditions are so terrible, we're forced to strike to make a point, even though we know i's illegal..."--since they do it every time. They suck and I have no sympathy for them.

I'm with you. I remember this same BS three years ago, and what's old Mike Bloombypants gunna tell us at his press conference at 2pm? "Buy a bike"? Again?
If this strike actually happens, I will be VERY surprised.

I don't know...the MTA sucks big hairy smegma dripping sasquatch cock. That's for sure. And anything that fucks them I am in FAVOR of. The MTA is a boil on the asshole of transportation. They are a puke flavored, booger covered, cordial cherry disguised veruca in a dirty wrapper.
While many of the transit employees are inept, stupid and rude, I can't help but wonder if I wouldn't be just the same way if I had to work for the bile-filled bubo that IS the MTA.
So I say, "Fuck it". Que Sirrhan-Sirrhan or whatever. The MTA sucks, the union sucks, the workers suck, most trains suck, the passengers suck. And this strike, which I predict WILL happen, is gonna suck HARD until all our foreheads cave in.

There was a Letter to the Editor printed in either Metro or AmNY the other day that printed the salaries of the transit workers. They are pretty damn good for the jobs they are doing. Also, they are pushing for an 8% raise, I think. I read that the average raise for everyone this year is 2-3%. I am losing any natural sympathy I have for their cause.

I know! Fucking 8 percent. That's ridiculous--it's just gamesmanship, they're just pushing to see how much they can get which would be fine except, for, y'know, illegal strike. They're screwing over the rest of us.

The strikers for whom I DO feel are those poor home health care workers--those poor guys make like $6-plus an hour. Can you believe that? If anyone has a grievance, it's them.
