The Queen Mother, during the height of the blitz, was asked why the royal family did not leave London. Here is what she said:
"Well, the girls won't leave without me, I won't leave without the King, and the King will never leave."
My reply
The British Royal Family, like, single-handedly advanced the evolution of the human race during the Blitz. I mean, no one would've blamed the Queen and the little girls if they'd left. Most of the other kids had left. Bombs all around them and they stayed and whistled. Unbelievable courage. I have my points of contention with QE and her late mother, but that was amazing--a true example of how fine the species can be.
I don't think these assholes know who they're dealing with. This is the ENGLISH. They've been dealing with this from the IRA for years. They faced down the Nazis bombing them in their homeland, they've had IRA bombs--they live in houses with NO CENTRAL HEATING, for God's sake. They are not afraid, and they will laugh at you*.
The English are awesome. I still want to go there soon.
Correction: They will raise an eyebrow at you and sneer at you behind your back. No one can put you down as devastingly, with as little effort, as the English. Because they are awesome.

Almost everyone in my mom's family is there right now for Aunt Gwenie's funeral. But the service is being held in Birmingham, so everyone was out of harm's way, thank God.
