For the past week or so, the people in my building have had to go down to the Post Office to pick up our mail, because the mailbox "complex" had loosened, somehow, and was hanging out of the wall. I called the landlord and the Post Office, as did at least one other tenant. Yesterday I noticed a brand-spankin' new set of mailboxes in the foyer, and they're big, too! At least an inch wider than the old ones, and it looks like it'll be easier to get stuff out. Yay! Now I can renew my subscriptions to Vogue and W. (I had to cancel because their bigger issues, like their Fall Fashion previews, were so thick they would literally be stuck in the box--I would have to rip out pages just to remove them. Or they'd hold them at the Post Office for pickup, and I hate having to go down and lug back a 700+ page magazine. They're quite heavy.)

FYI, if anyone needs an apartment, there are two newly vacant apartments in my building--they're remodeling them now. Not sure when they'll be ready to move in, but I'd guess by the beginning of June at the latest. My landlord is pretty good, and it's a good building (and rent-stabilized). Just thowing that out because someone's always looking for an apartment.

I guess you've never been to my apartment--they're very nice but a little small. I LOVE my apartment, I just wish the living room were a bit bigger. The building is a rear building that opens onto a courtyard, so there's no noise. The apartments themselves are quite nice--mine has hardwood floors, a fire escape, a loft, lots of windows, a marble-lined bathroom. I don't know what they'll charge for rent--I imagine they'll try to jack it up since they're remodeling, but since they're rent-stabilized, they can't raise it too much. But our landlord is GREAT--they *usually* take care of stuff immediately. The management company's number is 541-8788.
