No blossoms

I went home this weekend. My Mom has a new cat--another Siamese, a wedgehead this time (her last one was an applehead). His name is Mosby because he's Mom's little Grey Ghost. He has a very alien look and would stare at me very alienly with his blue eyes. Very friendly and sweet and looooong.

I went home to see the cherry blossoms for which DC is famous--they're a lovely Washington tradition. The weather was terrible leaving New York City--I took the train to Astoria to catch the bus to La Guardia, and literally could not leave the station--the wind was so strong it kept blowing me back. I was afraid to even try the stairs, so I just waited until it had died down a bit. Naturally it was raining tremendously hard, so I got soaked. Mom picked me up in DC where it was a little chilly but not as bad. The next day we took the Metro to the Mall--where we were greeted, AGAIN, with gale force winds (25-30 mph), and of course we were freezing. (I have no idea why there was no wind in Falls Church--it wasn't bad at all when we left.) It was miserable--we tried to stick it out, and I HATE getting all the way there and not finishing what I'd set out to do, but it was just too cold and windy. Fucking ridiculous. It's APRIL, temperatures should be in the 60s. Like it was TODAY. Naturally the only day I could see the blossoms, the weather sucked. So FRUSTRATING.

At least it's nice today.

Going to the tanning salon tonight, to bake in sybaritic synthetic sun.
