Sick

Doug and I went to see Sideways last night. More about that later, but a while into the movie my stomach started feeling funny. (Although now that I think of it, it started during dinner--I had a burger and fries which I could not finish or even come close.) I tried to ignore it and almost made it to the end of the movie, but with about five minutes left I lurched upright and RAN for the exit, and proceeded to vomit everything I've eaten for the past 48 hours into the trash can right by the entrance to the theater. It just did not stop. I almost passed out. Just a completely debilitating experience. Eventually I wandered into what turned out to be the men's room, looking for a faucet with which to rinse out my mouth. I found an assistant manager (who looked all of 15) and warned him of my little calling card in the trash can. Then I staggered back into the theater and found Doug.

When we got back to my apartment I could barely stand. Doug thought it might be food poisoning--it sure feels that way. I couldn't even think of food--I didn't even want to know that food might exist. Chris convinced me to call in sick for today and I somehow found my way upstairs to my loft. I had to get up a couple of times in the night to be sick. When I woke up this morning, I found that Chris had obtained ginger ale and crackers which my dehydrated, empty self sorely needed.

Tatia has insisted on "comforting" me by draping herself all over my head, my neck, my chest. Animals can pick up on your energy and she must've known I was sick. For Tatia, nothing says love like suffocation.

I feel a little better now--I'm still very weak but at least the vomiting has stopped.

Aw man. I wish I could just go back to sleep and have it feel restful. I feel like with all the sleeping I did, it didn't make much of a difference.

MAN, I hate that. It definitely sounds like food poisoning. Hope you feel better soon!

I will avail myself of them later--right now I literally do not have the strength to color, or indeed do anything but lie on the futon staring dully up at the TV. Oh yeah, and update my journal.

I'll be returning to your place after work. Do you need me to pick up anything?

gawd, i hope you feel better. two days after christmas the same thing happened to me, the sense of foreboding and then the sudden run to a receptacle... and i was wearing a cowl neck sweater, so i had my hair in one hand and the sweater in the other! ug. i think in my case it was just that I hadn't eaten pasta in a year and a half, and indulged in some olive garden the night prior...
anyway, i hope you feel better!

I had thought it was just around here that we got that awful stomach flu. Many of my co-workers have been sick with it lately. Last week I overheard someone talking about how this awful thing is actually all over the Northeast.

I'm sorry to hear it's reached as far as you two.

I would like to say that you are the nice for letting my Goatie be not homeless on the street.

You get my thumbs up!

Goatie is too nice to let that happen. You have to take care of nice people in this world; there aren't enough of them.
