Going to the gym...
Apr. 12th, 2005 04:02 pmBig Guy joined a gym in Hoboken and I've been going with him. I've been twice so far--it's the first time I've worked out in a gym since I let my membership at Dolphin expire. Dolphin was great, not expensive, but I was doing a LOT of shows and eventually could not find the time. Doug's gym is Empire Fitness (an odd name, since it's in NJ--they SHOULD've named it Garden Fitness). They're pretty good--lots of weights (TONS of weights, to make a pun) and treadmills. I get very locked into my one routine when I go to the gym--I am perfectly happy staying on the treadmill the whole time, as long as I have a good magazine in front of me. But I guess I should do some muscle work--I have an aversion to bulking up, since A) I think I would look ridiculous with Big Strong Muskles, with my little frame, and B) some of my European shirts wouldn't fit (they're all cut for European women, and all of them have twigs for arms). Anyway, I am starting to wade into the waters of weight-lifting, just a bit.
I feel virtuous when I work out, like I've earned dessert.
