I was cast in a student film last fall that has not YET filmed. We were supposed to shoot my one scene (I play a crack whore) in October but the shoot has been postponed at least three times, and I've lost work because of it. The most recent scheduled time was supposed to be today--we were supposed to meet at 7 am (!!!) in Brooklyn even though I'd told him a long time ago I can't do such an early shoot because hello, I'd be leaving my apartment at 5 am when it's not safe. The director is a nice guy but TOTALLY over his head. He drives me crazy, dealing with him--he always wants to call you, never leaves messages or emails you, just wants to talk directly (which is not my preferred form of communication for details like schedules, locations, etc.). He'll call and then text me urgently "CALL ME." Rehearsals were a joke--he kept wanting me to go down to Brooklyn College for trivial things until I finally put down my foot and said you need to meet me in Midtown because every time I go to Brooklyn College for something stupid (like picking up a script which could've been emailed), it costs me $4, plus a lot of time. Then he wanted to shoot in February during this one stretch when it was 20 degrees--the HIGHS were 20 degrees. Are you fucking kidding me? I had to tell him No, I cannot wear a skimpy crack whore outfit when it's that cold.
Anyway, Sunday morning he calls me and leaves a message that the shoot Monday has been cancelled--his DP "had other priorities" and one of the actors had something else scheduled. I'd been offered an assignment for Monday by Atrium but turned it down. That was it--I sent him a polite email saying I couldn't continue, this was the third time (at least--I've really lost count, I know he canceled twice in October/November, and again in January--so I guess it's the fourth time) this has happened, and he should have no difficulty recasting the role.
The guy called me THREE TIMES last night. Once at 12:30 am. And messaged me (again with the "CALL ME"). He's called me twice today. I'm really getting pissed. Stop calling me. Stop messaging me. If you have anything to say, email me, like a civilized person. I'm sorry I had to quit--I'm sorry your actions and general lack of organization compelled me to quit--but I have to look after myself.
