(no subject)

Yesterday was lovely. Doug and I drove 10+ hours from Hoboken to get into Chapel Hill around 2 am. We were DEAD when we finally pulled in. Absolute zombies--I was so tired it was painful. We woke up quite late yesterday--I showered and made my ablutions, and then floated upstairs to meet his parents who are very very nice. Really friendly and welcoming, and great conversationalists. We et the bird in the afternoon--Doug's mother has a phenomenal recipe for a mashed sweet potato dish. I cannot describe how delicious it was. Sweet potatoes, buttuh, brown sugah, pecans...so good. We also ate my homemade pumpkin pie, made with home-pureed pumpkin, my special mix of spices, and my signature crust ("lahk to float away..."). There was a funny moment when Doug was slicing into the pie and mangling my crust--he dropped a mangled piece of pie onto a plate and remarked that it looked like a transporter accident. I said "What we got back...didn't live long. Fortunately." Then I said it was Sonak, the erstwhile science officer. Afterward we drove into Chapel Hill and hung out at a bar, which got busier as the evening went on. We got back around 2 am and raided the refrigerator, bringing sandwiches and pie downstairs to eat while watching The Enterprise Incident, the most awesome third season episode of ST: TOS.

Still tired today. Could use a good shot of cawfee.
