Nov. 3rd, 2004 09:32 amGeez, people sure do love to hate. Love that one hater is a so-called "Christian." Jesus said "Love thy neighbor."
Fuck 'em. I'd love to rattle their cages by engaging in some public homosexual behavior (while wearing a cross, of course) except that, well, I'm straight. Although perhaps I could steel myself to do a little lip-locking with another woman. Strictly in the interest of solidarity with my gay friends, of course!
Shallow Thought from Last Night:
Man, Karen Hughes has GOT to do something about her hair. Deep condition it, let it grow a few inches, and WASH THE GREY OUT. She looks like Large Marge, or my middle school gym teacher.
From another board:
I'm going to be bothered if the tone of the White House doesn't improve. Declaring victory before it actually gets certified, saying that Bush got more votes than any other president in history (sure, I get that, but this will always happen down the road as, y'know, the US population gets bigger), saying this was a decisive victory, etc, etc. I could see that if he won by Clinton v. Dole levels or Bush v. Dukakis levels or Nixon v. McGovern levels. This is pretty split, even with the popular vote leaning Bush's way. I feel like the administration sees "re-election" as "green light to impose what we want, how we want it, and to hell with the other side", no matter what the numbers show. They can see it was close, right? And I'd be the same way if Kerry had found his way into the driver's seat. With the US in it's current alignment, you have to appeal to both sides of the aisle or nothing is going to get accomplished other than the continual pissing off of 50 percent of America. I'm hopeful that something moderate can happen, but I can't be optimistic about it.
and from another poster:
If I felt I could respect W., I could deal with this better.
Man, do I agree. I can't respect a leader who will not--will not--admit he's made a huge error that cost lives. Not to mention the whole "I don't have to explain myself." Yes, you do. You are our servant.
The more I think about it, that really is a key thing. I could never vote for John McCain because abortion is a dealbreaker issue for me--I'll never vote for an anti-choice politician. However, I respect him--he's intelligent, thoughtful, he sees the larger picture, and he has learned from his sufferings. If McCain were elected, I could deal with that. I also respected George Bush Sr. (who is a friend of the family, BTW--my great-uncle flew in WWII with him, and was part of his inaugural celebration. I have pictures of my great-aunt with him).
I don't respect George W. Bush.
