Fuck you, Matt! [/breathy, high-pitched voice]

Barbara is all moved in now. (Well, sort of--there are still suitcases everywhere.) For the past couple of nights she's been sleeping on the futon in the living room but she intends to buy an inflatable mattress so she can sleep on the floor of my bedroom, leaving the living room clear for other things. She moved in on Monday evening--she arrived around 10:00 while Duncan was still here, so he got to chat with her. She started her job yesterday, and then last night Doug joined us and we hung out at Arriba Arriba!, my favorite chorus-boy-cruising-joint/yummy-Mexican-food-and-drink hangout. I didn't realize until last night just how full of aging chorus boys that place is--they are EVERYWHERE there--the clientele, the wait staff, the hosting staff. We had a great conversation about a bunch of things yesterday, including politics, English history and years-old gossip from Barbara's and my shared history.

One of the guys at the copy center at Lazard keeps hitting on me in a joking way. Today he was telling me about their departmental Christmas party and said "We're not supposed to say this, but we've got libations so I can hook you up if you come, aight?" I was thinking "Sounds good, if I can bring the 6-foot, muscle-bound SS guard I'm dating. Aight?"

The problem with grey, gloomy days like this...

...is that you look out the window when you're dressing and think it's going to be chilly. Then you step outside and it's sssssteamy. Which is nice--the Swamp Monster loves sssssteamy days, but confusing. And then it's freezing inside 30 Rock. *Throws hands in air in frustration*

Barbara Update

Someone at Barbara's work asked her to house-sit for a while--perhaps as long as three weeks--because she needs to be at her mother's side, who's in hospice and dying of cancer. The place is only five blocks away from Barbara's work place, so she's going to move in there for a little while, and then come back in a few weeks.

I'm reading the website The Stained Apron right now at work--it's a site devoted to the complaints and revenge of servers against obnoxious customers and abusive management. There's a page called "Sweet Revenge" that literally has me laughing so hard I'm crying. This is the best:
