Something VERY annoying happened--for some reason, my browser lost all of the customized links and also wiped out my favorites list, and what was there instead was a bunch of stupid MSN links, like "Free Hotmail" (also known Shitmail) and MSN this and MSN that. Fuck fuck FUCK. It took me FOREVER to compile that favorites list--I copied my old list from my old drive, and it took me a long time to do that. I'm really frustrated. Why did that happen? I checked the Recycle box but didn't see the links there. SHIT. I had hundreds of theater links on there.

I fucking hate Microsoft sometimes.

It may still be there somewhere in backup. Do a search for "favorites" and see if you somehow managed to log into the wrong account folder.

I'll try that, thanks.

Did you recently download any MS Windows updates?

Yes. You'd think they wouldn't aggravate their customer base by wiping out their favorites.

Every time you update you should always back up your files just for this reason. I'm guessing you downloaded windows XP serice pack 2 which has a LOT of problems. I actually deleted the whole thing it was such a pain in my ass.

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. I tend to download the updates every few months or so. Now I know which one to avoid.

It was in the interest of sanity. I use a wifi connection and noticed that since I had installed SP2 my connection was horrible. SP2 contains a new firewall which is great except that I couldn't connect to anything even with it disabled. Finally I just uninstalled it entirely and now everything's fine again. The update has a lot of bugs. I went to a lot sites to read up about it and noticed many complaints about the same thing. You should wait until MS releases some patches for it. For now, stay away!

Fortunately I have your old hard drive. I'll pull your Favourites list off of that.

Search the disk for all "Favorites" folders. Maybe your shortcuts are just hiding somewhere.

Thank you and Elizabeth!! I found the old folder--now I'm trying to export it into the new one, but that doesn't seem to be working. But at least they're not lost.
