I'm extremely sick. I've been vomiting since 1 am--after the first couple of go-rounds I had nothing left in my stomach and I was still bolting for the bathroom. It is an unbelievably uncomfortable experience to have your body struggling to get rid of something that isn't there--I can't breathe and it feels like I'm choking. And can I just tell you how horrible bile tastes? It tastes even worse than you'd expect it to taste, like this disgusting acidic taste and then something dead in the middle. I haven't vomited this much since I was a kid. Oh my God. I'm so shaky and miserable. All I want to do is shower and then sleep but every time I doze off, I wake up with the telltale sense of something impending in my stomach and then I have to run for at the other end of the apartment, pushing mattresses and cats out of the way the bathroom. Damn shotgun apartments.

MARION--if this keeps up today, do people go to the ER for constant vomiting? Is that considered serious or is that something that eventually goes away? I'm trying to drink fluids.

I'm not Marion, but yes they do. If you can't keep down fluids you can get dangerously dehydrated from all the vomiting. The ER, or an urgent care clinic, can also give you drugs to stop the puking.

*hug* Feel better. I've found that sleeping on the bathroom floor feels really nice in such circumstances. The tile is all nice and cold and the toilet is right there.

We always keep Nauzene at our house. http://www.drugstore.com/qxp139620_333181_sespider/nauzene/chewable_tablets_for_nausea_wild_cherry.htm

The stuff is amazing. I had a similar vomiting experience when I had my wisdom teeth out and Nauzene was the only thing that stopped the vomiting. If you could get to a drug store or have someone pick some up, I think it would make a huge difference. It is usually shelved with the stomach stuff.

I hope you get better soon.

Dude. That happened to me last summer (with the addition of some lower gastro issues added to it...whee! Coming out both ends.), and I went to the ER here in Hoboken and they gave me a whole bag of fluids and some Cipro (they couldn't tell if it was viral or bacterial...I think the Cipro was preventative) and pain meds (I had a wicked migraine, too...). When you feel like you can keep something down, don't get Gatorade, get Pedialyte. It will bring up your electrolytes and it has less sugar, so it's less likely to cause more stomach problems (per my doc last summer...and I think I just read Marion giving that advice to someone else very recently). Don't get fake grape, it's nasty. Stick with the citrus or pineapple flavor.

If you have insurance, why not go to urgent care.
