Yeah, that's why I said "Also, on a political (I guess?) tack"--at that point, I found it difficult to separate my feeling about it as a work of art vs. my feelings about it as a depiction of something that not only happened, but recently and whose reverberations are still being felt today. If it had been a straight work of fiction, hearing him sing wouldn't have bothered me so much, although I still feel he was romanticized too much.
