She was incredible. It was really a great night because almost everyone skated really well. It is rough when they all fall but here, there were just great programs all around and it was so wonderful to see all the athletes genuinely happy and full of joy.
Robyn hasn't watched it yet, but I will throw out there that I enjoyed watching the Russian and Swiss guys skate because it was hawesome to finally see skaters who didn't fall three times in every program, and it was hawesomer to see the ice dancers fall, because ice dancing sucks. I was really hoping the Italian guy would take sweet, sweet revenge on his partner for showing him up after their second program.
I would also like to add my great ideas for improving figure skating:
- Scott Hamilton's Patented Backflip is a mandatory element in every program - Before the compulsory, each skater has to pull the names of two jumps/spins/tricks out of a hat and incorporate them into the program; if they fail to do so, they have to do the free skate on skates provided by the nearest public rink - If you fall on a jump, you do a shot; if you skate a clean program, everyone else does a shot - Everyone has to skate in the clothes they would wear if they were skating at Rockefeller Center (because nothing is cuter than a girl skating in an oversized sweater, jeans, and earmuffs)
