New Year's Eve
Jan. 1st, 2006 09:25 pmMickey and Duncan had a New Year's Eve party last night--so much fun! I got there a bit late, as I woke up late and then really had to clean to apartment because the tabbies have been competing to see who can kick more kitty litter out of the box. Then I had to get waxed and pedicured, so I didn't get back to my apartment until 7:30. Anyway, I was able to shower and shellac makeup my face--I was actually quite pleased with the look I ended up with. < beauty geek > I have started applying foundation with a brush instead of my fingers--it takes longer but the stuff goes on much more sparely (albeit consistently). I think it looks good. < / beauty geek> I did my gold lips with very light (but still defined) eye makeup. Set my hair with the big curlers and pulled it back into a ponytail. I wore one of my LBDs, the tight strappy one, with my new black satin Kate Spades and black opera gloves. I felt DEAD sexay!
I left at 9:00 but it took me awhile actually to get on the R, since they weren't allowing people into the Times Square station, even if you accessed the system at 8th Avenue as I did. Very annoying! I had to take the E to Queens Plaza, then transfer to the R. The platform was FULL of people (because none of us could take the walkway to Times Square) and the trains were just as bad--very stressful, since I really get tense around such crowds. Sitting on the train I really had to go to my happy place, I was getting so tense. But I got to Mickey and Duncan's around 10:00 bearing a bottle of girly, fluffy, beautiful pink champagne for midnight. Paula was there (sans Jason, who had to work at Jekyll & Hyde), as were Tesse, Chris, Alex and Donald, Glory, Duncan and Glory's friend Susan, Kelly and Letham, a girl named Hannah (whose middle name is Clara! I told her "I never come across my name outside of my family!") and Mickey's girlfriend, Denise. Caroline showed up later as well.
Tesse made latkes which were SO GOOD, salty greasy goodness. At midnight we counted down and drank champagne and kissed and sang "Auld Lang Syne."
