(I'm insomniac tonight, humor me.)
*Nick's performance from Asif to his final exit. Pretty much note-perfect. I think Nick does well with a really strong obstacle--his strongest moments in the play were when he could physicalize his frustration.
*Veronica's politely quizzical look when Joshua first says "flesh pipe." Alex was playing it a little too big, IMO (a little too "Huh????" and I had her pull it back, to *eyebrows raised, waiting patiently*)--she took the note perfectly and it was hysterical after that.
*Dominic and Ritchie's subtext. Nick had been playing his lines too literally and I talked to him about how to play sexual subtext. You don't say the line straight. Instead, you look right at the other person--LOCK your eyes on him--lower your voice and slow it down a little. "I could do that." Brief smile. "Remember when I played that cop in Rumors?" The looking is most important--you must maintain eye contact.
Who'd have thought my career as Shiksa Destroyer Goddess would come in handy for directing plays?
