It's a beautiful mornin'...aaaahhh..

It is freakin' GORGEOUS outside. I went out to get lunch a little awhile ago and just basked. 81 lovely, slightly humid, brightly lit degrees. So, so wonderful. Summer is the best season in the city. I love the heat, I love the smell, I love the clothes.

In conjunction with Paula's rant...

...about the just-shot-down stadium proposal--one thing that IRRITATED THE CRAP OUT OF ME were those condescending ads with Real Noo Yawkuhs in vaguely workmanlike clothing, saying in their Real Noo Yawk accents, "C'mon! Let's build this thing awreddy!" I cannot--cannot--stand it when ads try to cozy me into a point of view like that. I hate ads that use lisping kids for the same reason. It's not cute--kids not speaking properly is to be tolerated until they learn, and your assumption that I'll melt at the sound is infuriating. And trying to appeal to my sense of...I don't know, tittering approval of the blue collar class?...by using Real Noo Yawkuhs in your stupid ad will BACKFIRE, since most New Yorkers (certainly most West Siders, where the stadium will be built) ARE FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE.

God, I hate those ads.
