I acquired a clip of the 1982 TV Special, "Motown: Yesterday, Today, Forever" with Michael Jackson singing "Billie Jean" and doing the moonwalk for the first time.* Man, is there anything sadder than seeing MJ as he used to be?--when he was a beautiful man (this was after the first nose job, although he looked beautiful in The Wiz pre-nose job--I really hate nose jobs for the most part, I've seen very few people that I thought needed one). A beautiful, enormously talented man, who happened to be black, who brought everyone together the way the old Motown stars did, with white and black kids dancing to the same music. Everyone loved MJ then--everyone in my grade was talking about that special the next day, and EVERYONE owned a copy of Thriller. Goddamn. So sad. What the fuck happened?

Fron what I know of MJ's upbringing, it was kind of messed up. Joe Jackson seems like the biggest prick ever, and I've heard the Jehovah's Witness lifestyle is a little "trying," to say the least.

As much as MJ and his family piss me off with their constant denials, I have to say this is probably the only time I'll ever say of a probable child molester that I hate the sin, but not the sinner. It is just so sad.

*One funny thing on the clip--the brief shot to the audience--you see two white girls in the second or third row back with very '80s hair, and one is clapping on the correct beats (the 2 and 4) and the other one is clapping all whitely on the 1 and 3. Hee!
