Golden Boy and I went a-pumpkin-patching yesterday. We drove to a farm/nursery somewhere in rural New Jersey--the colors were out and lovely, even if the day itself was a little dreary. We bought several pies and cakes, etc., plus one big pumpkin (for Doug to carve) and two little sugar pies (for me to sacrifice, vivisect and bake). Pumpkins are darned expensive this year! There were plenty there that were more than $20. My two sugar pies were over $3 each, and I saw sugar pies in the city for almost $10. We also bought some spices for the upcoming party--you can drop these things into simmering apple cider. It's very YUMMY. I love the coziness of autumn. All warm glowing lights and candles and baking goods. I'm going to vivisect one of my pumpkins tonight, and make some pumpkin bread for the party Saturday.

Mike's ex, Tricia, visited this weekend, and I got to meet her for the first time. She seems very nice--I felt bad for her, as the lone Red Sox fan in a sea of Yankees fans. She was a good sport about it.

Ryan saw the show Friday and we had a couple of drinks afterwards. I love my Ryan. He's in Altar Boyz (which just got picked up for an Off-Broadway run) and he sent me a postcard advertising it, and wrote on it "God thinks you're hot!"

A shiver-inducing, brr kind of weekend.
