After rehearsal a bunch of us from Eternity went to Dave's Tavern and slugged drinks. I like that place. Nice and divey, and they have a pool table. Cast members included Duncan, Heidi, Alex, Jason, Paula, Brendan (Siete), the guy playing Butch, the guy playing Mac, Ari (Stefan) and I. We all squeezed into two booths at the back.

Brendan seemed to loosen up a bit around me after I point-blank told him to. I dunno. We'll see.

...I overheard Paula saying she'd never seen Star Wars {that is, Episode IV) and I vaulted into the other booth to scold her. I was seriously taken aback, and I asked her in all seriousness if she was born in the States. How can you avoid seeing that movie? Jason asked me to finish the sentence: "Mos Eisley. You will never find..." and I said "...a more wretched hive of scum and villainy." We said in unison: "We must be cautious." We are SUCH geeks. Loud and proud: I am a geek! I'm good enough, I'm geeky enough, and gosh darn it, I know me some Star Wars.

But in my defense, I'm a geek who loves fashion.

...Paula said something very sweet last night. She was perched on a stool next to the booth where I, the guy who plays Butch and the guy who plays Mac were sitting. We were talking about how you react when someone flirts with/comes on to your honey. TGWPB and I were in agreement that this sort of thing is not always bad--it can stimulate certain...uh...competitive juices. Like, don't let it come between you--let it reaffirm your or your partner's market value, and lead to a newfound appreciation (and of course better sex!). But that can only happen when both parties are completely secure in their relationship. However, that said, if someone is openly coming on to your partner (not flirting with, but a serious attempt--a pass), that's just disrespectful. I said we need to define our terms, because what is flirting to one person, can be coming on to someone else. Paula was talking about a specific incident when a woman was coming on to Jason (touching him, etc.) and TGWPB asked her if she was typically territorial. She said no, and cited me as an example--she said Jason and I were close and she had never had any problem with it, because she trusted me. Aww!! I was very touched by that--that's why Paula and I are friends. She's a woman who trusts other women, and is secure enough in herself that she doesn't get immediately suspicious.

You know Mama Duck loves you both.
