The wah is ovuh!

The Trojan Women is over. It's been an interesting experience, and I will miss sitting backstage listening to the moaning and groaning onstage. (This is the ULTIMATE "Shut up and show us your tits" show--there are so many ripe opportunities to yell that out. I decided the two best, though, are during Julie's turn as Andromache and in the second act, after I leave, when Nora is going on and on. Just...shut up and show us your tits.)

Notwithstanding such hijinks, I really enjoyed my part, not least because it was self-contained (as Susan said, it was the ultimate cameo) and because, well, I was Helen of Troy. I just thought Helen was so playable--as objectified as she normally is, Euripides really gave her voice. I loved that scene, although I wasn't happy with the blocking. And I loved my costume, although it will be nice to eat again normally. I would definitely work again with Tracy, Tom, Sheila and Jennie. I pray that Julie doesn't want to work again with Nora and Suzanne. Too much attitude with too little talent.

This weekend

Susan, Paula, Jason and Chris came to see the show on Friday, and we hung out at Rachel's afterward. I could not eat much, since I had a matinee the next day and had to watch the tummy. Paula has a new haircut which looks fabulous. Tracy and I were talking about body image (unsurprising) and body types, and Paula's name came up--Tracy talked about how beautiful she thought Paula was. I hope your ears were burning!

My friend Wayne came to see the Saturday matinee and we hung out afterward at a bubble tea place on Ninth Avenue (love that stuff). His opinion of the show basically coincided with all my other friends'. After bubble tea, I went over to Central Park to lie in the sun with Tracy.

Last night (Sunday), Mike and Heidi came to see the show. Sadly, Mike was not sweaty from sailing, so there was no point to his sitting in the front row and staring at Nora, as I'd asked him to do. Another good idea, cursed by circumstance. Afterward, the three of us went to Mercury (where I did NOT order an overpriced margarita) and then...I took them to the secret bar. Now I must kill them. I showed them the cool uber-designed bar and the shadow wall and they just thought it was coolcoolcool. Yay!

Shallow, Clothes-Oriented Post

Today I'm wearing a smokin' hot summer suit that I bought through the Frederick's of Hollywood catalogue and modified. It's got a fairly tight white pencil skirt that hits right above the knee, and a sleeveless, double-breasted blue-and-white-striped jacket that's cut for a woman's figure (the cut is hourglass--it shows off my waist then flares down to end a few inches above the skirt). No pantyhose, white pumps.

Underwear: Calvin Klein boy cut briefs, and a white lacey bra. (I have to wear some kind of pump-up-the-volume bra with this jacket, or it wears me.)
