I've done a lot of different kinds of art modeling--some posing at FIT, a lot of photography, some sculpture. I've even been in a book, and I'm going to be in another. Most photographers want a skinny girl--I get a lot of compliments on my collarbones and my shoulderblades. (I'm waiting for the underground industry in XXX collarbone action to catch up with demand.) The one sculptor with whom I worked also liked my angles--it's easier to define the figure with those edges. But FIT likes a variety of figure types. Yeah, I do watch what I eat before posing. FIT doesn't pay very much but usually photographers pay a lot better.
It is fun. You're forced to be aware of your body in a way most of us aren't used to. I think it's a great experience for anyone who's never tried it.
