Well, we all have a face that we hide away forever...
So, thinking about a Halloween costume. I have a few possibilities: Foxxy Cleopatra, an elf, Peter Pan, a Polynesian princess, or a pirate. Or maybe Alice in Wonderland, if I can find it. Now that I think of it, my Columbine costume would be fun too--Duncan, what are the chances of my renting that from DeBaun? Anyway, I found a great Foxxy Cleopatra costume online but the costume plus the wig makes it kind of expensive. I can't find a cute elf costume anywhere! The Peter Pan costumes are all a little silly as well. And I cannot find a decent female pirate costume--they're all with skirts. Don't want skirts! I wanna cool pirate costume, with pants and a ruffly shirt! And a sword! None of this pirate wench crap.
I would make a good pirate.
I am trying to resist the urge to order the Princess costume for HIH Tatiana. But I love the look on that cat's face.

Bathroom for Costumers Only
When I went as a pirate last year, I just got cheap black sweat pants and chopped them off raggedly at the knee... That was effective.
You could even have the ones I wore, if you want, though I'm sure you could fit seven Claras into them. Same for my poet shirt.
If you want to borrow my eyepatch, do-rag and fake daggers (sorry, no sword), you're welcome to them.
Maybe that sexy leather thing you got at the renaissance festival would be a good start toward an Elf costume...
Re: Bathroom for Costumers Only
The elf thing--I was thinking more otherworldly, mischievous, pointed-eyebrow elf than sexy, flowing-skirted elf. Like tights, greenish-brownish short costume, cool/weird makeup.
On the other hand I could just whip out the flame-edged leather top. Oh wait, no, I'd be too embarrassed...

I don't know about embarassed, but you'd probably be chilly.

I'm surprised you can't find an elf constume, though, what with the marketing behemoth that is Lord of the Rings. Surely there's someplace in NYC that has that. Galadriel?
HEY!
All the elf stuff I'm finding is so elaborate and romantic. It occurred to me what I'm envisioning is Puck from Midsummer--pared down, gymnastic, does lots of somersaults and plays tricks. Like the brownie in The Adventures of a Brownie, if you ever read that as a child. I always thought he was so cool and playful. That's a different kind of elf (well, officially Puck is a fairy) than Legolis or Galadriel.
