Further proof that Wal-Mart is evil

Wal-Mart sues brain-damaged woman to recoup medical fees.

What a bunch of heartless, callous fuckers. Not content with paying people slave wages (and encouraging them to file for Medicaid, so the taxpayers can pay for it), they're actively going after people who already suffered unbelievably. I love how they try to shift the blame to the associates "who pay into the plan." You mean the few associates you ALLOW to have health benefits--the few associates who can afford it, the few you haven't driven away with your salary caps for veterans and your crap wages. And God knows, you have no shame about shifting the medical benefits for your employees onto the taxpayers. Just unbelivable. Those are some nice famblee valews on display there.

I was arguing about this on another lj and the person I was arguing with also said that the payout comes from a health plan that employees pay into, and so what if they had to deny coverage to someone else because of this. Because, of course, Wal-Mart is a small, struggling company, and so it wouldn't be fair to ask them to cut into their profits.

Does that same person argue against Wal-Mart's policy of steering employees toward Medicare and other publicly-funded health care programs, because they purposefully and systematically make the premiums so expensive, the employees who actually qualify for Wal-Mart's healthcare plan can't afford it? Because we, all of us, the taxpayers, are picking up the bill for that--all to help a company that receives untold tax breaks and benefits already.
