I'm assuming it's ANNika--I haven't actually heard my brother pronounce her name out loud yet. (I'm a little confused about the name--our Dutch ancestry is many generations back and as far as I know, my sister-in-law is only French. And I have no idea where Candace came from...)
I'm going down to visit my Mom soon and am hoping to see the new little one.
Please. No one in our family would be so gauchepopulist as to name their child for a sitcom character. We usually use family names. For example, I'm named after my great-grandmother (who, yes, was descended from the original Clara Barton.)
Nope. Clara and Clarissa have been family names in the Bartons going way back. In fact, go to this page and scroll about halfway down (http://www.millsaps.edu/records/catalog/2001-2002/financescholarshipsandfinancialaid.html)--you'll see my great-grandmother's name. [Although they misspelled Opa's (great-grandfather Wharton's) name just below it]. They were the parents of my father's father and great-grandfather Wharton was a well-known architect (http://www.cayuganet.org/forthill/bgreen/bgreen.html) who helped design JFK Airport and the IRT.
