Is there any way I can get usage of some photo editing software without actually having to spend $80 or whatever it costs? Like, is it online or something? I need to do some basic photo editing and Paint is not really what I need. Or failing that can anyone recommend an inexpensive software?

You can download The Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program) for free. It's not quite as good as PhotoShop, but it's good enough for basic photo editing. And you can't beat the price.

Thanks--do I go to the "GIMP for Windows" link and then...I download "Automated GIMP" only?

You'll also need to install the GTK+2 Library. Download links are here:

I used to play with GIMP back in my Linux days, and I didn't know it was available for Windows. Most excitement. I'l going to check it out too.
