I left a message with Chuck Eliott--I wanted to schedule a session with him to prepare something for this Iolanthe audition. The guy told me to look at Iolanthe's (the character's) stuff--I pulled out my copy of the score, and it looks like she's a lyric mezzo. Hmm. I'm not a mezzo, although I have the notes. She actually doesn't have that much; there's her big aria at the end where she reveals herself, her solo and chorus near the beginning when she comes out of the pond or whatever, and a few quartets here and there ("the prospect's not so bad/Your heart so sore and sad..."--it would be weird to sing that after learning it as Strephon!). I was thinking I could sing "I Cannot Tell What This Love May Be" from Patience or maybe "Tit-Willow" or "The Sun Whose Rays..." both from Mikado.

I sang "The Sun Whose Rays..." for the WOW Iolanthe audition. :)

Hmm. I can't remember what I sang but it wasn't G&S since I didn't have any G&S music with me.
