If you can believe it, Wednesday night around 11:00, I waited for something like 20 minutes for a V train. FOUR F trains came, but no V trains. FOUR. V trains are supposed to bail at midnight, not at 11:00. Finally I gave up and took a B train to 7th Avenue and transferred to an E (which is what I did on Friday).
One time the MTA frustrated me so badly--made me so late to work--I wrote them a letter including the plaintive cry "why do you have to suck so badly?" It's now my cri du coeur whenever something like this happens. It wouldn't be so maddening if they weren't constantly raising fares. When they jacked up the fares in 2003 33%--$1.50 to $2.00--and then when their workers threatened to strike in 2001 and then did so in 2005, in clear violation of the law and as a nice big FYou to the city--both sides of the MTA lost any goodwill from me for a very long time.
