Cheap-Ass Theater

I got a $20 ticket for Chitty Chitty !! for next Thursday. It's in the very last row but I don't care--it's only $20! Woo hoo!

I love that movie--CCBB is one of the great movie musicals of the late '60s-early '70s. The score is fantastic; the Sherman Brothers turned in some great music, like "Hushaby Mountain." And I LOVED the Child-Catcher.

Afternoon Delight

We are having raspberry cheesecake from Mangia for someone's birthday today. YUM. Chocolate cake with some kind of liqueur, with a thick-ass filling of raspberry flavored cheesecake, topped with fresh raspberries and rimmed with dark chocolate. I'm not a huge fan of cheesecake buit this is the shizzle, yo.

DVDs await

I gotta get off my Star Wars DVD kick and watch some of my Netflix arrivals. Right now I have a documentary on Emmett Till, another on the Weathermen, and more of the first season of Dallas. I have a bunch of cool docs in my queue, like Berkeley in the Sixties, Children Underground (about Nicolei Ceaucescu's policy of forced pregnancy and outlaw of abortion) and In the Footsteps of Alexander the Great. And, uh, The Bad News Bears. Interestingly, Netflix doesn't have Little Darlings--what is up with that?
